Over the years our goal has been to produce the best chinchillas possible
in both mutation and naturalle animals. In spite of the small size of our
herd we have been able to maintain an outstanding show record. Over and
over again we prove that even a small rancher CAN COMPETE!
We have tried to provide education to everyone that has touched our
chinchilla lives. Within our herd Chris has been the one that has toyed
with the genetics of the mutation herd. She has been responsible for treating
the sick animals and new mothers.
Dave has become a judge and is busy passing on his knowledge on a regular
basis. He is becoming well known for his "hands - on" teaching
style at the shows. He invites everyone in attendance to join him with the judging
duties behind the table. Although he is responsible for the placing of animals
at the show he feels that having someone to teach makes the judging easier
and more rewarding. After 16 years of learning "the hard way"
he is eager to make the learning process easier for the new ranchers.
Both Dave and Chris are heavily involved in the MCBA activities. Dave
is the President of MCBA, a position he has held since 1993. During his early
years on the MCBA Broad of Directors he was also on the National Board of
Empress Chinchillas Breeders Cooperative. Besides being at the helm of MCBA
he is responsible for the programming at the annual MCBA Shindig/Seminars
in August every year. Chris has been the editor of the MCBA Newsletter since 1992
and was the creative force behind the original MCBA website.
